American oak twin pedestal desk with a green leather top.
Sympathetically restored to retain the original finish but we have added extra life to the polish. The drawers run well and are constructed of a mixture of white oak and pine.
This desk assembles/disassembles with only 4 screws. The 2 banks of drawers are held together with 2 pieces of dovetailed oak stretchers and the central drawer rests in the space above. Consequently, this piece can be easily moved upstairs or through awkward doorways. A very practical design feature from 100 years ago.
